Seasonal Nature of Fires
As weather and human activities change with the seasons, so do the incidence, cause and severity of fires. During this time, the United States Fire Administration documents that structure fires increase dramatically and dollar loss per fire is 34% greater than normal. Fire-related injuries and fatalities dramatically increase during the cold weather months due to placement of Christmas trees; decorations with large amounts of combustible materials; increased use of candles and decorative lighting; the preparation and cooking of elaborate meals.
