Effective May 1, 2005 any temporary food establishments, festivals, events, and theatrical performances may be inspected by the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office, subject to Harris County Fire Code inspection requirements.
Please ask a

representative for a copy of these requirements (713-439-6000). There is no additional permit required for temporary food vendors – however, you are subject to a fire inspection by the Fire Marshal at any time. If you plan to use fireworks, flame effects, or pyrotechnics you must contact the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office (281-436-8000) for plans approval and required permits.
The purpose of the inspection process is to protect the health and safety of the public and employees, and to ensure that facilities and operations are properly constructed and equipped, and have reduced the fire risk by proper use of open flames, LP-gas, and other sources of ignition.
Once you are in compliance with Code requirements, you will receive a Fire Inspection Medallion to display. If you have any questions, please call the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office (281-436-8000).
