The HCFMO Safe School Inspection Program is being preformed in three steps:
Step 1 is a general fire inspection to identify and prioritize potential fire hazards.
- HCFMO fire inspectors will use a condensed checklist for this inspection.
- Detailed Guidelines explain each item in the checklist.
- After each inspection, inspection results are posted to this site.
- HCFMO code interpretations are posted regularly to explain code requirements.
Step 2 is a detailed, in-depth inspection to correct deficiencies.
- Step 2 will begin after all public schools in the unincorporated area of Harris County have received an initial inspection
- Step 2 inspections will be prioritized by the results from the Step 1 inspections.
Step 3 is regularly scheduled inspections of all schools.
- School fire inspections will continue to be conducted anually.
- Results of regularly scheduled inspections will also be posted to this site.
