Bar, Night Club,
Restaurant, Banquet Hall
Bars, Night Clubs, Restaruants, or Banquet Halls are locations intended for for food and/or drink consumption.
Residential Treatment Center A residential treatment facility shall include buildings arranged for occupancy as residential care/assisted living/personal care home licensed for 4 or more residents, excluding staff. 
Daycare An day care provides educational, supervision, or personal care and is licensed by TDPS.
Fireworks Retail Location Consumer fireworks (1.4G) are legal to buy, possess, and use in the unincorporated areas of Harris County. Within the unincorporated area of Harris County a commercial and development permit is required to sell fireworks.
Foster Homes Residential home licensed for 1-12 children foster home inspection
Gated & Non-Gated Community Gated and Non-Gated communities include condominiums, town homes and apartments that have more than one building.
Gated Subdivision Gated subdivisions include gated residential communities.
Hospitals & Nursing Homes Hospitals and nursing homes provide one or more of the following: medical, surgical, psychiatric, nursing or custodial care on a 24-hour basis for persons who are not capable of self-preservation.
Private School Private Schools provide education up to 12th grade and may apply for a fire inspection by the HCFMO.
Public School Public Schools provide education up to 12th grade and are inspected anually by the HCFMO.
Temporary Food Vendor Temporary food vendors include any temporary food establishments, festivals, events, and theatrical performances.
Other New Construction New construction in the unincorporated area of Harris County requires a commercial and development permit.
Other Existing Facilities Existing businesses not listed above may apply for a fire inspection with the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.
To be considered "existing" a facility must:
  • Have been constructed before 1/1/2005.
  • Been in continuous operation since 1/1/2005.
  • Not have changed property use since 1/1/2005.
All facilities that do not fit these criteria must immediately contact Harris County Permits.
